The palace was built in 1394 for the Split nobleman Cipriano de Ciprianis (C. Žaninić from the Livno branch of the Berislavićes) who ruled Korčula on behalf of King Tvrtko of Bosnia. In 1860 it came into the hands of the Benedetti family. Particularly prominent are the two six-light mullioned windows with double columns in Late Romanesque style, a rarity in secular architecture, and the relief of St Anthony the Hermit, with a depiction of C. de Ciprianis as donor.

Namsan Mountain is located at an altitude of 270 meters in the heart of Seoul. It was originally named Ingyeongsan Mountain, but the name was changed to Namsan after King Taejo moved the capital city of Joseon to Seoul in 1394 because it was located to the south of the palace. Namsan is one of the four major mountains surrounding Hanyang, the capital city of Joseon. They say that it is supposed to hold a great energy because it is equivalent to the phoenix of the south and inner-city hill in Feng Shui. Topography of Namsan that was destroyed during the Japanese Occupation period has been restored through the Namsan Restoration Project over 10 years since 1991.
