What facilities does the DMZ Museum offer?

The DMZ Museum, located in Gangwon Province, began construction in 2006 with a budget of KRW 44.5 billion from national and provincial funds and officially opened in August 2009. It was established to document the history of the world’s only Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and to create a globally recognized landmark. The museum, covering a site area of 151,242㎡, features a three-story building with a total area of 10,760㎡. Inside, it includes a 46-seat video hall, permanent and temporary exhibition halls, seminar rooms for meetings, and a Multipurpose Center with an outdoor performance stage. The exhibition halls are divided into four sections that explore the background, past, present, and future of the DMZ. The museum aims to gather and display comprehensive materials about the DMZ, including those from North Korea, and will be considered complete once all relevant data is collected and showcased after Korean reunification.
