Zrze Monastery is situated in close proximity to the village of Zrze, approximately 25 kilometers to the northwest of Prilep in the Republic of North Macedonia. The area boasts a wealth of historical remnants from ancient times, including pillars, remnants of basilicas, and various artifacts, bearing testament to its rich cultural heritage. Traditionally, monks inhabited intricately carved stone hollows within the mountainside cliffs, a practice believed to have originated in the 3rd and 4th centuries. Presently, the Zrze monastery complex comprises the 'St. Petar and Pavle' church, lodging facilities, and several auxiliary rooms. Over the years, the church has undergone multiple renovations, with only fragments of its original artwork remaining. Notably, in the 14th century, the church walls were adorned with paintings of exceptional artistic significance. A particularly remarkable artifact housed within the Church of Saints Peter and Paul is the 1421 icon of the Holy Virgin Pelagonitissa, considered one of the last masterpieces of Byzantine iconography. Crafted by Makarije Zograf, this icon was created within the confines of the Zrze monastery. Makarije Zograf and his brother, Metropolitan Jovan Zograf, were entrusted with the care of the monastery's endowment until it was later transferred to Constantine, the village head (kmet). Beneath the monastery lie the cells of the monks, their substantial number indicative of the vibrant monastic community, which adhered to the highest monastic traditions. Today, Zrze remains a fully operational monastery, aligning with the beliefs of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.

In the village of Trebichino, within the Municipality of Vasilevo, stands the revered St. Petka church, which was built in the year 1875.

Consecrated on October 12, 2003, the vast Holy Trinity Orthodox Church is worth a look inside if you're in the area. Financed by the Macedonian businessman Risto Gusterov in an unusual act of patronage, the building serves as a potent symbol of the current Macedonian revival of its old spiritual traditions. It was built between 1997 and 2003 and features designs both inside and out by the Ukrainian painter Anatolij Gajdanaka. The church is a single-nave structure with a cross plan and a vaulted dome partly designed in the Byzantine style. Its icons are by Kalchev of Gevgelija, and the frescoes are the work of world-famous Ukrainian masters: Dimitri Nagurni, Vladimir Nedajborch, Viktor Blinov, Jura Levchenko, Vladimir Cach, Vladimir Bovhun, Larisa Mishchenko, and Ljuszko. The combination of these artistic elements enhances the overall beauty of the Holy Trinity Church.

The female monastery, Holy Archangel Michael, is situated in the beautiful picturesque region of Berovo, and it dates back to 1818. Since it has been established, until this day, this monastery has been a nucleus of consistent female monastic life under the protection of the Great Archangel Michael. Of note is that every structure created, has its own miraculous history; especially the construction of the holy church - as the legends of its construction are interwoven with palpable miracles. Namely, according to the records and statements of the first nuns, there is a legend of how the monastery church was built: at the beginning of the 19th century there had only been one small church in the area, which had been dedicated to St. George. During this time, the local people showed a desire for a new church, but they had to get permission from the ruling Turkish government together with the priest, they went to the Turkish Governor in Radovish, who - as the legend narrates - set three conditions for the church to be built. The first requirement was that the church be built in exactly 40 days; the second was that it should not be higher than the upper road, and the third condition, and most troubling, was that the youngest daughter of the current priest goes to the harem and changes her faith. It can be realized immediately that in this sacred history, and in our faith, the most important thing is the notion of sacrifice. There are many legends where our people believe that every sacred building involves some kind of sacrifice. But, what the Turkish Governor set as the third condition - is a sacrifice that is priceless. In order for the people to live in their faith, it was required for the girl to make the ultimate sacrifice for the entire community. Nonetheless, the first two conditions were equally symbolic and cruel. The first, the church to be built in 40 days implies an impossible feat. The second condition is a kind of humiliation, in that 'faith below the road' is equivalent to faith straying away from the true path. Despite all of this, the people accepted the conditions: an impossible achievement, humiliation and sacrifice, in the name of love for Christ. As the first two conditions were fulfilled with the grace of God, time came for the girl to go to the harem: instead, she fled to Kjustendil, wanting to preserve her faith. There she remained for three years, for as long as the Turkish Governor was alive. After the power changed, she returned to Berovo and became the first nun in this monastery. Her monastic name was Evgenija (Eugene). Thus, at the beginning, her senseless sacrifice (to change her faith) helped her define her true calling in devoting her life to Christ. From that day until the present, by God's will and providence, there has never been a time when the monastery was unoccupied by nuns. while over time their number changed, at one point the sisterhood reached up to 80 nuns. At the time, the monastery's property was quite large, the nuns dealt with many various activities on a daily basis. Today, two nuns live in the monastery, St. Archangel Michael, Daily Liturgy and other church services make visitors feel God's peace and presence in this holy place. In addition to making rosaries and preservatives of forest strawberries, the nuns also engage in making mosaics. This is the only monastery in the Republic of Macedonia where the main activity of the monastery is mosaic art. The monastery has its own gallery, where parts of the works are exhibited. The gallery is open to all visitors. The symbolism of this activity is related to the general symbolism of the Orthodox Christian patience: our faith in Him is built up stone by stone. Each stone reveals the image of God, and represents the small and modest steps we take on our narrow, and often difficult path to Him and our salvation. Thus, the mosaics of this monastery symbolize the longing of every Orthodox and godly Christian: everyone as a small stone to be embedded in the great living Body of Christ  (our Orthodox Church).

The Monastery Saint Archangel Michael was built in 1818 between the two old churches, 'St Gjorji' from the right side at about hundred meters and 'Saint Bogorodica' on the left, at the entrance of Bregainica gorge, where Berovo was located in the 19th century. The construction method of the monastery is associated with a legend that the Berovo citizens proudly narrate. The church with a large porch, built in the architectural opus in the 19th century, dominates the monastery courtyard. In its interior the characters of saints are painted in a distinctive style that deviates from Byzantine canons. The iconostasis that separates the altar from the middle section has built in 10 so-called royal icons with superb artistic achievement. In its most thriving period, the monastery numbered up to sixty (nuns) in a rich developed economy, a theological school, and weaver. The nuns' chambers are located on the south, west and northern side of the church. They were built in genuine old Maleshevo architecture of basements, with 16 rooms in total and 560 square meters area. The monastery activities are closely connected to the Razlovec (1876) and Kresnen (1878) uprisings. The monastery is available and open to each well-intentioned visitor.

The Holy Sunday Church (Св. Недела) is positioned on the left side of Bitola's northern entrance, in close proximity to the Holy Sunday cemetery. This church, constructed in 1863, takes the form of a three-naved basilica and features a central octagonal dome. Inside, an intricately crafted wooden iconostasis graces the space, showcasing predominantly modern icons. Similar to other churches in Bitola, local guilds played a significant role in its construction, and in 1864, the church's dome was adorned with vibrant paintings. Subsequently, another layer of artwork was added towards the late nineteenth century, although it has suffered considerable damage over time. Within the churchyard of Holy Sunday lies the Ilinden cemeteries, serving as the final resting place for Macedonian insurgents from the Ottoman era, including Komitas Dimko Nikolov and Aleksandar Turundzhev.
